Golden Lily William Morris And Co tea towel from the Victoria and Albert Museum Collection. The design is reproduced from the 1899 John Henry Dearle wallpaper pattern which is now stored in the Museum's archive in London. John Henry Dearle was originally hired by Morris And Co to design backgrounds in tapestries. This elaborate design expressed his burgeoning ability to create delightful patterns which are very close to Morris's own style and colour. (The little mark, top left, is the silhouette of the underside label.)
