Roman Mosaic Tea Towel - British Museum
British Museum Roman Mosaic tea towel. This design features details from a 2nd century AD Roman mosaic which was unearthed in 1857 outside the city of Carthage in the north of Tunisia. A floral trellis pattern frames a female figure representing the Muse. Her hair is knotted over the forehead, and she wears a chiton (draped garment) fastened by a round fibula (brooch) on the shoulder.
